Egyptologist and millionaire Amelia Peabody Emerson is back in Egypt hunting down tomb robbers, uncovering antiquities fraud, and meddling in the life of her son Ramses.
In 1917, with war raging in Europe, Amelia and her family return to Egypt for an extensive archaeological dig after learning that another tomb has been desecrated by thieves. Hot on the robber's trail, Amelia's family is thrown into disarray when her son, Ramses, is called away by the British government for a covert operation in Gaza, the gateway to the Holy Land.
