In brief:

• W.F. Howes Ltd appoints Miles Stevens-Hoare as General Manager of W.F. Howes in the UK and subsidiary Wavesound Pty Ltd in Australia
• Stevens-Hoare brings extensive experience across all facets of publishing operations, including digital platforms, enabling him to drive growth, revenue and profitability
• Stevens-Hoare replaces Shaun Sibley, who retires at the end of March 2017 following 11 successful years at the company

Leicester UK, 1st March 2017 – W. F. Howes Ltd, the UK’s leading publisher of audiobooks and a subsidiary of Recorded Books Inc., today announced the appointment of Miles Stevens-Hoare as General Manager. Stevens-Hoare now oversees W.F. Howes Ltd in the UK and sister company Wavesound Pty Ltd in Australia, bringing his extensive strategic management skills to a new role, where he will drive business development, revenue and profitability.

Stevens-Hoare has significant experience in the library and school publishing markets, previously holding the role of Managing Director of the Raintree imprint at Capstone Publishers. Prior to that, he held positions at Scholastic as well as alternative publishers Panini and DeAgostini. In 2012, under Stevens-Hoare’s management, Raintree successfully launched the children’s imprint Curious Fox, which is focused on young readers, in print and digital formats.

“We’re thrilled to have an executive of Miles’ calibre at the helm as we expand our global publishing and digital media operations,” said Tom MacIsaac, CEO and President of Recorded Books Inc., parent company of W.F. Howes. “His success in managing all facets of publishing operations makes him uniquely qualified to lead the company during this next phase of our growth.”

“I’m excited to join W.F. Howes when the company is poised for further development and expansion,” said Stevens-Hoare. “Our significant strengths include a pipeline of world-leading authors, and my colleagues and I have an amazing line-up of content planned for the remainder of this year and beyond to appeal to readers and listeners across all platforms and interest groups.”

Stevens-Hoare was appointed after an extensive search to take on the General Manager role upon the retirement of Shaun Sibley, who successfully led the company for 11 years. During Sibley’s tenure, W.F. Howes became a market leader in the UK, and Sibley was instrumental in establishing Wavesound as a key player in the Australian library market.

“I’d like to extend a special thanks to Shaun for his distinguished service in building Recorded Books’ international presence and positioning us for future success,” MacIsaac said. “We wish him the very best.”
